Dear Parents,

As we continue this most unique school year, for you, your children and us; I want to thank you for following the changing rules on COVID. Our goal will always be to provide the safest, most “normal” experience possible, within the parameters provided by the Archdiocese of Miami. Thank you for your unyielding understanding and cooperation.

Next week, we celebrate Catholic Schools Week. We have a number of activities planned for the students. I wanted to thank you for choosing a Catholic Education for your child and for entrusting their care to us.

The theme for this year is Faith. Excellence. Service. These three principles are taught on a daily basis at Our Lady of Lourdes Parish School.

Once again, thank you for choosing a catholic education for your child.

God is good,

Thomas E. Halfaker

Our PK3 students bundled up to enjoy their recess time earlier this week and completed a fun experiment.

In PK4, students enjoyed an art activity: watercoloring snowmen.

Reviewing Social Studies Family Feud style was a great way to learn some interesting facts in 1st grade.

In 3A, students began working on their Economics unit project. They are creating their own advertising campaign to sell a good or service.

2A students were able to enjoy wonderful reading lessons outdoors this week.

5A and B girls prayed the Angelus together.

The author of the The Red Umbrella, Christina Diaz Gonzalez, spoke to the 6th graders about her book which the students read as a class. It is a moving tale of a 14-year-old girl's journey from Cuba to America as part of Operation Pedro Pan, an organized exodus of more than 14,000 unaccompanied children. She revealed a secret about her new book coming out, The Bluest Skies and its relationship to The Red Umbrella.
The 6th graders had a fun visit from Father Albert this week.

6th Graders also worked on a Google Slides presentation for the interviews they conducted this week.

The 8th graders wore gear from their favorite high schools on Monday.

In science this week, 8B students worked on science/language arts essay.

This week, Miami Prime Catering, added some new yummy lunch options to the already expansive selection. Sushi!!

28 6th Grade rollerbladers on a beautiful morning this week. The most we’ve ever had in all these years offering rollerblading as a Middle School elective.

Today, our PK4 students came together to host our school mass. Kindergarten - 2nd grade students attended mass in person, as we celebrated the feast of St. Thomas Aquinas, the patron saint of Catholic Schools. Thank you to Father James for a beautiful mass and reminding us that although we all make mistakes, our teachers and parents are always here to teach us new things and help us learn from our mistakes. Thank you to the parents and grandparents who joined us as well as our students and families tuning in.

After each school mass, it is customary for teachers to recognize students for exhibiting Christian Behavior. All recipients are listed below.

Congratulations to the following students for exhibiting Christian Behaviors:
